Upon arrival, meet your airport transfer and check in to your centrally located hotel in Dubrovnik, the city once described as the “Pearl of the Adriatic” by Lord Byron. Take the rest of the day to explore your new surroundings, and perhaps visit one of the historic city’s famous Buza Bars. These cliff bars are hidden under the ancient walls of the Dubrovnik’s Old town and are the ideal location to enjoy a glass of wine or cocktail while taking in the spectacular views across the Adriatic Sea.
Welcome to Croatia!
DAY 2 - Dubrovnik
This remarkable Croatian city is well known for it’s Old Town surrounded by medieval walls so what better way to see it than on a 4-hour City Walls Walking Tour plus Cable Car ride up Mt. Srd. Have your camera ready during this steep ride where you will be rewarded with a bird’s-eye view of Dubrovnik and the Adriatic. After seeing the city from above, you’ll visit Onofrio’s Fountain, the Franciscan Monastery which boasts a gorgeous Gothic courtyard before continuing on down the limestone-clad Stradun to the Renaissance-era Sponza Palace. You’ll continue further to the city’s bell tower, the Church of St. Blaise, dedicated to the patron saint of Dubrovnik, and the opulent Rector’s Palace. Walk a bit further on to explore the Cathedral of the Assumption, a Baroque and Mannerist-style church that was rebuilt after a fire in the 18th century. Finally, head over to an entryway up onto the walls with your guide, hearing about the history of these impressive fortifications. As you stroll along the walls, note the gorgeous views of the Adriatic, as well as the towers at each corner of the wall, including Minčeta Tower, St John’s Fortress and Fort Bokar. Game of Thrones fans may recognize many sights in Dubrovnik as it was the location of fictional King’s Landing in the series.
This afternoon, spend the day at your leisure, consider a 15-minute ferry ride to Lokrum to swim, visit the Monastic ruins, and float in Lokrum’s own “Dead Sea”.
DAY 3 - Dubrovnik
Enjoy this morning and early afternoon at your own pace while working up an appetite for your 3-hour food & drink tour. Starting at 3pm, discover a taste of authentic Dubrovnik on a walking tour of the city’s top food and drink spots. Be immersed in the atmosphere as you stroll with your local guide and gain cultural insights and personalized tips as you explore and visit 4 family-run restaurants to sample specialties including seafood and wine!
If you would like something more adventurous today, instead opt for a Sea-Kayaking & Snorkeling Tour (no experience necessary).
See Dubrovnik from the water with an exciting 3-hour guided kayak tour! After a demonstration to learn about proper kayaking and safety techniques, get your life vest and paddles and hop in your 2-person kayak. The route goes amongst the city’s 12th-century walls and Lokrum, a small island located just off the coast that boasts a Benedictine monastery and a Napoleonic-era fort. As you travel along the Adriatic Sea, learn about the area’s history and mysterious legends from your guide. Hear what daily life in Dubrovnik was like during the Croatian War of Independence. After paddling around Lokrum, head back towards the Dubrovnik coastline and enjoy some time to either go swimming or snorkeling (equipment is provided) at a secluded beach cave. Snacks are also provided as you soak up the sun. Select a morning, afternoon, or evening tour (which includes a glass of wine at sunset).
DAY 4 - Split
Spend the morning as you wish in Dubrovnik before boarding the high-speed catamaran to Split this afternoon. Sit back and relax on this 4.5 hour cruise before checking in to your hotel.
DAY 5 - Split
Explore Split on your own schedule this afternoon. We suggest a visit Diocletian’s Palace, Saint Domnius Cathedral, Bacvice Beach or take a 1-hour ferry ride to the Island of Brac and relax at the famous Zlatni Rat beach!
This evening, you’ll be on a 2-hour cruise complete with live music and an open bar! Starting at 7pm, you’ll begin by sailing beneath the breathtaking green oasis of Marjan hill, then continue on towards the bay of Kaštela where you can enjoy the panorama of the mountains that surround Split, the views of several marinas and the most important institution for all Split citizens: the amazing stadium of the local football club “Hajduk”.
Afterwards, sail to the new part of the town, where you can view several city beaches as the sun sets behind the town.
DAY 6 - Split
Today is a full day spent visiting Krka National Park and the historic charm of its surrounding medieval villages. Discover the UNESCO-listed sights and striking waterfalls like ‘Roški slap’ and ‘Skradinski buk’. Photograph Krka’s collection of lovingly restored watermills and stone houses, plus an array of history exhibits on the park itself. Swim in the waterfalls then purchase local fare from a ‘konoba’ (homestyle eatery). After your visit to Krka National Park, we will proceed to some of the surrounding towns, which offer a wealth of historic attractions for visitors. Marvel at the ancient fortress in Skradin before returning to Split in the early evening.
DAY 7 - Split
This is your last day in Split so enjoy at your leisure before you move on to Hvar tomorrow.
DAY 8 - Hvar
Today will begin with a 1.5-hour ferry from Split to Hvar. Nicknamed “the Sunshine Island”, Hvar boasts the highest number of sunlight hours on average in Europe. In addition to this sunny climate, Hvar is home to beautiful lavender fields and vineyards.
Late this afternoon, you’ll take a 3-hour wine-tasting tour to discover the fine Dalmatian wines! You’ll visit a local winemaker in the coastal town of Jelsa with a guide and gain insight into Hvar’s rich winemaking heritage. Learn how local families cultivate popular grape varietals such as Plavac Mali and see how ancient traditions blend with modern technologies to bring out the best in the harvests. Sample locally produced wines such as Prošek during a tasting session and appreciate the flavors at play.
DAY 9 - Hvar
This is your last day in Hvar so discover the island as you choose. Rent a scooter and visit the lavender fields, cycle the island, join a boat tour to the Blue Caves, sail the Pakleni Islands, or join a tour from Jesla to Grapčeva špilja, one of the best preserved Neolithic cave dwellings around the Mediterranean, containing dramatic stalactites and stalagmites.
This evening we suggest enjoying some authentic Croatian cuisine with dinner at Konoba Menego. Close to the main square in Hvar town and set in the owner’s home, this tavern oozes warmth and hospitality!
DAY 10 - Split
This afternoon you’ll take the ferry back to Split for one last night in beautiful Croatia. Today is a good opportunity to pick up some last minute souvenirs and visit a local restaurant or wine bar to wrap up your trip.
DAY 11 - Home
All good things must come to an end including your time in Croatia. Your airport shuttle will pick you up at your hotel and transfer you to the airport according to your flight times.
